Writer’s Quote Wednesday is organised by Colleen from Silver Threading, and is a wonderful weekly series in which bloggers share the quotes which inspire them. I highly recommend checking them out.
My quote today is by Neil Gaiman:
The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can – Neil Gaiman
I’m struggling this week, and where the words would normally pour onto the page (especially based on such an inspiring quote), those words are stuck inside. So I’ll have to rely on you, my fine readers. What does the quote say to you? Do you have a favourite Gaiman quote? I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
Mel

I already knew the quote, and it’s fantastic. I love Gaiman 🙂
Me too 😀
Mel, that is beautiful and I love the voice you use in your writing. Take a break, sweet-pea. You need a rest. ❤
Thank you, Colleen. That means a lot. And you’re absolutely right. I’m feeling quite vulnerable right now. I’m going to schedule the rest of my posts this week and take a few days off. I appreciate your support ❤
My pleasure. You have to take care of me next week. 😉
You can count on it 😀
He’s right. Just as each of us has unique DNA, so too is ourself unique. That’s a good thing. That one-of-a-kindness is the coin of our realm.
Wise words indeed, Jacqui 😀
I’m sure you’ll get back into the flow of thinks soon 🙂
As for this quote, it’s another excellent choice! It reminds me of a similar saying I often remind myself of with regards to writing, which is to “be the best version of yourself that you can be.” 🙂
That’s the kind of quote I strive to live by…being the best version of myself. I’m glad you liked the choice this week. Gaiman is an inspiring man 😀
“Fears over tomorrow and regrets over yesterday are twin thieves that rob us of the moment.”~Anonymous
Take a break and don’t think to hard on it. I use to beat myself up over time to write when it was awful or such, I don’t do this as much anymore and find myself more content when I have the time regardless of the output of brilliance or trash.
Thanks, Cassie 😀 That’s great advice. Hope you’re having a fabulous week.
I think you should allow yourself a break, and not try to force creativity and inspiration to be with you. like is says in your quote, live a little, have fun! And then come back to writing and being creative with all your might and without forcing too hard.
Great advice, Solveig. Thank you. I appreciate it 😀
That’s a great quote. Really timely for me, as I am struggling to get back into the swing of writing.
Thanks, Alex. And I hear you. I hope you get back into the swing of things soon 😀
I love the look of your new blog, Mel. Looks clean and fabulous!!! ❤
Thanks so much, Colleen 🙂 I’m really glad you like it ❤

My favorite line: “The only thing that you have that nobody else has is you…” Love it. The individual characteristics that make up each person is what makes it necessary to explore different writers. It is your own uniqueness that makes it worth it because there is no one exactly like you. I should know, I’m a twin and we couldn’t be any more different! Excellent quote, thanks for sharing.
It’s my pleasure, and thank you. I agree with you completely – we’re all unique and that’s why we love so many authors. We are drawn to their voice 😀
