If we were having coffee I would tell you I took my nan to the cinema yesterday to see San Andreas. We had an additional treat because my youngest daughter decided to grace us with her presence! She assured me it was a desire to spend time with us, but I think it’s more likely she had a hankering for a Tango Ice Blast! Those things have quite the pull for my Gracie 🙂
Still, she enjoyed the movie; as did my nan. It made me giggle because Grace constantly looked across at me to gauge my reaction – to check if it was okay to be scared out of her wits! At one point we both had our hands up to our faces; mouths hanging open in horror as the action unfolded. San Andreas is a lot of fun. It’s a disaster movie and, in my opinion, a good one. Sure, the main character dodged falling buildings with a helicopter, containers from a cargo ship in a much smaller vessel, and basically escaped an avalanche by the skin of his teeth. But he’s The Rock. So he gets away with it!
If we were having coffee I would ask about your week, and the movies you’ve seen recently. I’d ask if you’re looking forward to Jurassic World as much as I am. I can’t wait! I have a slight obsession with Chris Pratt and his special brand of humour; in his interviews and movies – in particular Guardians of the Galaxy.
If we were having coffee I would tell you I was Blitzed yesterday! If you pulled that ‘huh?’ face I’d quickly explain that it’s a blogging event organised by DL Hammons and his team. A wonderful concept which (in his words) ‘concentrates the support, encouraging nature and community spirit of the blogosphere on a single blogger.’ This time I was chosen, which can either be a random selection or through a recommendation. It was overwhelming, the amount of blog love I received.
Of course, true to form I had a technical glitch on my site, which made it really difficult for people to drop a comment. But, in addition to taking the time to stop by, bloggers actually navigated through the quagmire to say hello. How awesome is that…pretty damn awesome!
I had to laugh at the notification I received from WordPress (your stats are booming: you’re getting lots of traffic). I had a ‘no shit, Sherlock’ moment because I don’t think my blog has had that many views in…well…ever!
If we were having coffee I would pause for breath, and listen to the rest of your news. I’d thank you for dropping by because I always enjoy to see you, and then we would head on over to Diana’s place and catch up with everybody else. Hold on to your mugs, because it’s always an adventure 🙂
Have a great weekend. Until next time.
Mel
Those WordPress notifications are odd, but I think FB has it beat. That site loves to tell me when a post is doing good and offer to promote it for money. So nice of them to ‘selflessly’ make such an offer. 😛 I still have to see Fury Road, so I think other movies are on the wait list. Jurassic World is the only one that might be allowed to pull ahead. Depends on how easy it is to find the former in theaters. Not sure what it’s like over there, but movies vanish from theaters really quickly unless they’re in the Top 3 box office positions.
They generally stay around for weeks here! You can usually guarantee a month if not longer 😀 We are behind in terms of release dates, which is why I was so surprised about getting Avengers before the US! Jurassic World isn’t due out here for another couple of weeks. Have a great weekend 🙂
That was odd. I wonder if they felt Avengers was a sure thing over here, so they put more into the foreign markets. Hollywood seems to be focusing more outside of US borders lately. At least if you believe headlines.
Maybe it builds anticipation and drives people to cinemas…who knows what the grand plan is!
I’d hope Disney/Marvel, but you never know. Could just be that they feel Americans are an easy audience and require a lot less coaxing.
Could be! 😀
Ah yes, I’m very excited for Jurassic World! 🙂
Only a few weeks to go…yay!
I live along the San Andreas Fault–visited miles of its length when my daughter did a high school science project that included it. It’s an interesting chunk of paleogeography. Haven’t seen the movie, though.
Congrats on the visits! I love that they do that!
Me too 😀 I’d love to visit the San Andreas Fault…one day!
That’s awesome for the blitz! I hope to go see San Andreas mid June if it still plays near where I live! Oh and guess what I’m reading and enjoying since last night? 😉
Oo…are you spending time with a certain witch?! One of my favourite parts of San Andreas is the strong female characters…they kicked butt!
Yes, yes, I am! Loving it so much! I hope to finish reading it this weekend and craft the interview questions next week (though I already have a few looming into my mind). And I LOVE there is a prologue! I have a soft spot for introductory scenes like this or actual prologues like you did! ❤
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. In fact I may have done a little bounce on my computer chair! 😉 I’m also really looking forward to the interview. I was advised to remove the prologue, but I wanted to keep it. I’m happy someone agrees with me!
eeeeeeeeeeeeee! I know that prologues/dream or flashback openings (even in the shape of a first chapter) are often recommended to be discarded, but I have always loved them. So I’m very happy that you kept it ❤
Me too! Thanks so much for saying that. I also went against advice and put one in the first book! I feel better about it now ❤
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! That’s awesome! So, I know you won’t give me weird looks when reading the first short story of my collection, where I start with a dream/flashback that’s crucial for all the book! 😀
Woo hoo! I’ll love it! I’m more likely to give you a high five 😉
We are also excited to see Jurassic World. Thank goodness we won’t have to wait too much longer. And how sweet of you to take your Nan to the movies! You are such a love!
I’m glad you enjoyed that blog love! You are so supportive and it’s awesome to see it come back to you.
Aw. Thank you, Gina. That’s so lovely 🙂 My nan is awesome! She doesn’t get out much, because of her health, but we both love our cinema trips! Last week we sat like couch potatoes and watched a few movies together, with delicious treats and no interruptions. A rarity! It was delightful 😀
Those family times are precious. I love that you value them.
Always. As I value my friends 😀
😀
I can’t seem to get my mind off of the new Star Wars movie coming out in December. I’m not sure anything else will appeal to me so much until post SW7. 😉
I feel that way about the movies in the next phase of Marvel Universe! But, I hear you about Star Wars. I’m looking forward to it too 😀
I’m excited for the Jurassic World movie too.
You’ll have to let me know what you think 😀
I haven’t heard of that movie yet, but I love The Rock, so I’ll have to watch this for sure!
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Not only is The Rock on top form, but there are some wonderful actors in it in general. It’s an entertaining move 😀
I’m glad your daughter went to the movie with you. I don’t see many movies, but my kids wanted to see Mall Cop 2 so I took them to that a couple weeks ago (it was a discount movie cinema, so it was even better 🙂 )
That sounds like fun. I like Kevin James – he always makes me smile! Haven’t seen Mall Cop 2 yet though 😀
