On Thursday I provided a review of Demon Hunt by Renee Scattergood as part of her double feature tour, organised by Dragon Knight Chronicles. The final day of the tour, which takes place on Tuesday the 6th, will be dedicated to the next episode of the Shadow Stalker series, so you can expect another review from me.
Today Renee joins us for a guest post, in which she shares her experiences, and her hopes for the coming year. I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing her the very best of luck.
My 2015 New Year’s Resolution
By Renee Scattergood
I know a lot of people aren’t big on New Year’s Resolutions, but I always like to have at least one goal I set to accomplish throughout the year, so when the next new year rolls around, I have something to reflect on and hopefully be proud of.
Last year, my goal was to overcome my fears that were keeping me from getting something written and published. I knew writing an entire novel would be hard for me. I’m a perfectionist, and I had a bad habit of loving my work until I got close to the end then scrapping it. Plus I was always overly concerned about how to deal with people once they started reading my work. I didn’t expect everyone would like it, so I wasn’t worried about that, but I’m a very introverted person and I have a hard time with socializing with people.
So about half way into the year, I decided to try writing and publishing in smaller chunks. That’s how I came up with the idea of writing the Shadow Stalker episodes. It was much easier for me to write shorter pieces and get them published, taking baby steps, so to speak. When I published the first episode it was like a dam breaking, and I’ve been so excited about writing since then. I feel ready to move on to bigger and better things.
Which brings me to my 2015 New Year’s Resolution! This year I want to focus on writing and publishing my first full length novel. My goal is to publish it in April of this year. So wish me luck!

Reblogged this on Dragon Knight Chronicles.
Love the resolution Renee I haven’t come up with one for myself yet. Perhaps this year I will make a goal and do my best to get it accomplished.
Mine is to finish writing my novella, A Spy in the Sagax Vampires. It might be too lofty though.
That is cool 🙂 I have so many ideas I want to do this year I just want to make one for sure resolution I can make that I know I can make happen.
Yeah. Mine would probably be more realistic if I set a word count goal of say 15,000. It’s already at 9,000 and that would probably be finished if not close to the end.
That would be good 🙂 but it always feels good to break the goal so you could always be proud at the end of the year if you do 🙂
Thanks! 😀 Now if I can just get the darned thing written! LOL
I know that feeling all to well 🙂
What is the novel you talk about, Renee? Shadow Stalker Episodes 1-5 bundled?
No, it’s based on the Shadow Stalker episode 1-3, but rather than being written in first person through Auren’s POV, it’s going to be in third person and have six POV characters. So it will include things that are going on in the Serpent Isles as well. The POV characters are Auren and Kado of course, but also Drevin, Makari (Drevin’s son), Deakan (if you remember Auren’s friend from the first episode), and Shai (Kado’s daughter).
Ah, cool. Can’t wait to read.
Good for you. Best of luck! 🙂
Thanks, Callum. Good luck to you as well in the coming year! 😀
Thanks again for all your support, Mel! 😀
My pleasure 🙂
