Review: Hands of Evil

I’m sure every author experiences self-doubt. There are the times, usually after the first draft, when we look back and wonder what the hell we were thinking, because there are so many plot holes we could bury ourselves. Then there are the time when our muse goes on strike, or our minds shut down like a disused computer. At those times I remind myself of the wonderful community I belong to. The people who know how passionate I am about the words and never fail to show their support and understanding. And no matter how many words I write that are destined for the trash heap, or how many times I read a scene and shudder at the number of flaws, I recognise that there are times when I do write something to be proud of. When I’ve touched someone else with my words. The simple fact is – it’s worth it. When you get a review that identifies with the story, from a reader who sees the characters as they are in your head, it’s the best feeling there is. So, thanks, Taylor.

Hands of Evil caught me from the get go. It’s incredibly well written but that’s not what got me. What caught my interest and didn’t let it go was the humanity of the characters, their honest appeal. Add to that the fact that the book is like a fantastic version of CSI and I was hooked.

We meet JJ who’s a tough guy who is also caring and protective without losing a sliver of that meanness. JJ is the kind of guy I’d want watching my back. He’s smart, dedicated and can drop a bad guy in under two seconds. I liked him from the start and reading the book only increased his appeal.
