Book Trailer

I’ve been playing around with a book trailer for Hands of Evil and this is a first attempt. I read lots of tips and advice, and the recurring theme seemed to be that trailers should be under 90 seconds and the first 10 are the key. I wanted to make mine short but sweet, and so this is a free programme to get me started (it only allowed 30 seconds).

I would really appreciate your feedback, even if it’s to say I need to go back to the drawing board! Is it enough for a taste, or does it put you off the book completely?

Thanks in advance.

  1. I think it does wet the appetite, Mel.

If you decide to go at it again, perhaps you could mention that it is the second book in the series. I think it’s important for readers to know that.

  2. Ha! That was awesome! Definitely better than my first attempt. I use the built-in Windows Movie Maker to create all my videos, and the features are pretty limited. I wanna try another program a little more advanced, but I tend to get lost when things get too technical.

Anyway, great trailer. I think it does a pretty sweet job of grabbing the interest. Points: he music’s groovy, too. ahhah.

    • Thank you 🙂 I appreciate the feedback. The music amuses me – so dramatic! I would recommend you give anamoto a try. You can get a 30 second video for free and it is really easy to use. Check out the fireworks background – I got a kick out of it! There’s music and themes, many of which are free so you can have a play and see what you think 🙂 Thanks again for the comment.

  3. I liked it as well – though I watched it without sound…it looks pretty cool and very well done. I hope my first trailer comes out as good as this one.

  4. Are you only allowed 30 seconds? I did like it, my only comment is that I don’t get the connection of the 2 characters JJ and Grace in video to really understand what the book is about outside of obstacles in each of characters way – maybe thats the point? Looking forward to reading!! 🙂

    • Thanks, Cassie. I only got 30 seconds on the free version so I was limited but I wanted people to be curious too, so overall I’m happy with it 🙂 I really appreciate the feedback.

  5. It was brilliant! A great teaser for the story, and now I can’t wait to read it even more 😀

It looked really well done, professional and eye-catching, but also striking to keep people’s interest.

I’d love to hear from you.
