It’s been a hectic month, and lessons have been learnt! I managed to write 27,000 words for Camp NaNoWriMo. This fell short of my target by 9,000 words. I went through the normal reaction to my failure, and when I let go of the big stick I realised, though I hadn’t met the ultimate goal – I did achieve something.
So, my hat off to all those who met their personal camp goal, and who raised money for an excellent cause. I met some terrific people, and I will definitely take part again.
It’s all about the timing, and I bit off more than I could chew by accepting the camp challenge. It’s the main reason I fell short of my own target.
I moved house (across the country, no less), got my daughters settled in at school and found myself enough work to put food on the table! I even managed to spend time on my blogs once in a while, and kept up with the prompt series over at Featured Fiction.
Now that I’m no longer living out of boxes and I have several thousand words to play with, it’s time to move on.
Which means, the daily prompts are back. Click here for more information.
I’ll also be launching a new weekly prompt series – Featured Articles, which is a non-fiction based prompt.
Thanks to all of you who continue to offer your support and encouragement, and for your patience.

It sounds like you achieved a heck of a lot to me! For a start, 27000 words is not an amount to be dismissed and to have done so through all the stress of moving house while also maintaining extra work and a family life is admirable! 🙂
Thanks! I can be a little hard on myself and I hate to fail at anything 🙂 I appreciate your support, and you’re right. The words are valuable, and I can go back to them when the time comes and be proud of the achievement.
Exactly! Once the dust of a stressful month settles I’m sure you’ll see that there was no failure involved. 🙂
Keep your cape, you did us proud!
Lol 🙂 thank you! Given that I’m a total geek I might just do that 🙂
Sounds great, Mel! 27,000 is still a whole bunch with all that going on – I’m very impressed!
Thanks 🙂 I did enjoy the experience, though next time I might stay put and clear my calender!
